Book Summary:

Although raised in a family of strong Christian ministry, life's path for Kylie Oaks-Gatewoodwasn't always picture perfect. The confident, successful, free woman of God she is today is testimony to the restorative work of the blood of Jesus. Her victory and freedom were forged in a dark and frightening time in her life. Battling mental and emotional disorders along with alcohol and drugs while living in her car, Kylie found herself in a place she never thought she would be in a mental hospital. In Winning the Mind Battle, Kylie outlines the process that took her from despair to hope, from bondage to freedom. It's all in controlling the soul. By highlighting the reality of strongholds, the importance of determination, and the need to practice forgiveness, Kylie attests to the transforming power of God's Word. Her testimony, though not an easy one, is powerful and mightily used by God to reach a dying generation in these last days. If you are suffering from hurts, habits, or hang-ups, there is an answer! And it is simpler than you might think!

Book Summary:

This Bible study will help the reader to learn how to control her thoughts and why that is necessary. It will accomplish this by identifying what the Bible has to say about thoughts and then reinforcing those points using interactive questions, personal application, and memory verses. The following quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson illustrates how important a person's thoughts are:"Sow a thought and you reap an action; sow an act and you reap a habit; sow a habit and you reap a character; sow a character and you reap a destiny."The foundation verses for this study are:2 Corinthians 10:45-"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds; casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." Philippians 4:8-"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

Book Summary:

“I want to believe, I want to have hope, but…” Pastor and bestselling author Craig Groeschel hears these words often and has asked them himself. We want to know God, feel his presence, and trust that he hears our prayers, but in the midst of great pain, we may wonder if he really cares about us. Even when we have both hope and hurt, sometimes it’s the hurt that shouts the loudest. Can God be good when life is not? In Hope in the Dark, Groeschel explores the story of the father who brought his demon-possessed son to Jesus, saying, “I believe! Help my unbelief!” In the man’s sincere plea, Jesus heard the tension in the man’s battle-scarred heart. He healed not only the boy but the father too, driving out the hopelessness that had overtaken him. He can do the same for us today. As Groeschel shares his pain surrounding the current health challenges of his daughter, he acknowledges the questions we may ask in our own deepest pain: “Where was God when I was being abused?” “Why was my child born with a disability?” “Why did the cancer come back?” “Why are all my friends married and I’m alone?” He invites us to wrestle with such questions as we ask God to honor our faith and heal our unbelief. In the middle of your profound pain, you long for authentic words of understanding and hope. You long to know that even in overwhelming reality, you can still believe that God is good. Rediscover a faith in the character, power, and presence of God. Even in the questions. Even now.

Book Summary:

Customer Loyalty Isn't Enough—Grow Your Share of Wallet The Wallet Allocation Rule is a revolutionary, definitive guide for winning the battle for share of customers' hearts, minds, and wallets. Backed by rock-solid science published in the Harvard Business Review and MIT Sloan Management Review, this landmark book introduces a new and rigorously tested approach—the Wallet Allocation Rule—that is proven to link to the most important measure of customer loyalty: share of wallet. Companies currently spend billions of dollars each year measuring and managing metrics like customer satisfaction and Net Promoter Score (NPS) to improve customer loyalty. These metrics, however, have almost no correlation to share of wallet. As a result, the returns on investments designed to improve the customer experience are frequently near zero, even negative. With The Wallet Allocation Rule, managers finally have the missing link to business growth within their grasp—the ability to link their existing metrics to the share of spending that customers allocate to their brands. Learn why improving satisfaction (or NPS) does not improve share. Apply the Wallet Allocation Rule to discover what really drives customer spending. Uncover new metrics that really matter to achieve growth. By applying the Wallet Allocation Rule, managers get real insight into the money they currently get from their customers, the money available to be earned by them, and what it takes to get it. The Wallet Allocation Rule provides managers with a blueprint for sustainable long-term growth.

Book Summary:

A hundred-thousand years ago one of the biggest differences between humans and the rest of the animal kingdom was that we were better at catching them than they were at catching us. Today things have changed...somewhat. Thinking is easy. Anyone can think. What's important is thinking intelligently. The problem is that a battle for our minds is taking place, and most people don't even notice. We're influenced from the news, social gatherings, what we read, what we are told, and what everyone else is thinking. Salespeople, marketers, and politicians know thousands of ways to push our minds in one direction or another. The result is that society is littered with people who retain beliefs they cannot explain for reasons they do not know. What you think matters. People fight for their beliefs, defend them, and in some cases even die for them. Lesser minds might be content with easy answers and poorly thought out explanations. But if you seek a strong mind, you first must ensure that you are capable of overcoming the elements that influence the way you think. Intellectual Warfare is designed to equip you with the tools necessary to win the battle for your mind. The book spans a host of topics ranging from the human ego, natural biases, cognitive illusions, and an entire section on the weapons of persuasion constantly attacking your thought process. Aimed at anyone seeking to improve their intellect, this book will ensure you are making the most of your mind.

Book Summary:

Why are most slogans and taglines ineffective? Because they're just words and a mind cannot understand words. A mind can only understand sounds. Why do most Americans remember the battlecry of the French Revolution (Libert , galit , fraternit ) when they cannot remember the battlecry of the American Revolution? Because the sounds of the words "Libert , galit , fraternit " rhyme and that's one of the powerful techniques for creating a memorable slogan. In addition to "rhyme," there are four other techniques outlined in my new book, Battlecry. (1) Rhyme: "Roto-Rooter, that's the name. And away go troubles down the drain." (2) Alliteration: "M&Ms melt in your mouth, not in your hands." (3) Repetition: "The few. The proud. The Marines." (4) Reversals: "Two great tastes that taste great together. Reese's peanut butter cups." (5) Double-entendre: "A diamond is forever." You might think companies and their ad agencies would be wise to these techniques. But few slogans actually use any of these memory-building tactics. In a recent survey of 266 advertising slogans, only 19 used any one of them. Battlecry is a companion book to my previous book, Visual Hammer, and should be read together. Creating a slogan is only half the battle. The other half of the battle is a visual that will help drive your slogan into prospects' minds. The contour bottle helps drive "The real thing" into the minds of cola drinkers. The duck helps drive the Aflac name into prospects' minds. The straw-in-the-orange helps drive "Not from concentrate" into the minds of Tropicana buyers. Even "The ultimate driving machine" would not have been effective, in my opinion, without a visual hammer. And what was BMW's visual hammer? It was the television commercials showing BMWs being driven over winding road by happy owners. Over the years, there have been many advertising campaigns showing beautiful automobiles being driven over lush, winding roads. The hammers are terrific, but the nails are missing. The trick is to find the right combination of a visual hammer and a verbal nail. And my two books, Battlecry and Visual Hammer, can help you do exactly that.
