Book Summary:

This book offers a critique of common spiritual warfare practices including binding Satan, renouncing curses, spiritual mapping and exorcisms. Using Scripture, and Scripture alone, Pastor Jim Osman shows that true spiritual warfare is not a battle over territory, but a battle for the truth. The book is divided into four sections: Establishing Biblical Principles, Exposing Unbiblical Practices, Explaining Biblical Perspectives and Examining a Biblical Passage. A biblical approach to spiritual warfare recognizes the Bible as the sole authority, rejects unbiblical and man-made methods, and rests in Christ and His finished work for victory. Many in the modern spiritual warfare movement teach a methodology of spiritual warfare that is more akin to something you would find in a Harry Potter novel (renouncing curses and using prayer mantras to seize territory) than anything described in Scripture. Many of these practices reflect a theology built on anecdotes, experience, and interviews with demons rather than a sound exegesis of Scripture. Footnoted quotations of authors like Mark Bubeck, Neil T. Anderson, and others are compared against Scripture to show that modern spiritual warfare "experts" have abandoned the authority of Scripture and opted for man-made methods to wage spiritual battle. The chapters include a study of the three enemies that every Christian faces: the world, the flesh, and the devil. Pastor Osman answers from Scripture the questions: Can a Christian be demon-possessed? Is Christ's authority ours? and, What about exorcisms? One chapter includes a helpful discussion of the link between spiritual warfare and a believer's sanctification. The foreword is written by international conference speaker Justin Peters (justinpeters.org). This book is being published as an e-book as a fundraiser to finish the new church building of Kootenai Community Church (www.kootenaichurch.org) of which Jim is one of the pastors. All the proceeds go the building fund for the completion of that project. You can see regular updates at http: //www.truthorterritory.com .

Book Summary:

Back in 2014, the year of the original LieDeck Revolution, humanity couldn't cope with reality as laid bare by the infallible lie detector. To avoid total chaos, a coup transforms the UN into a military world government called the World Democratic Authority (WDA), and only WDA agents are allowed to use LieDecks, for policing purposes. In 2033, there emerges a widespread demand for the democratization of the military world government and public access to the LieDeck device. The opposition is led by "Evolution," a social movement that has involved hundreds of millions throughout the world in a new way of living-a new way of being, really. Their new "consciousness" is accomplished by never lying, which is in turn achieved by pretending that their spoken words are being openly checked by the banned LieDeck device. One WDA agent, Lilly Petrosian, is chosen by her superiors to live in and LieDeck-monitor an Evolutionary "clan" named Victor-E, and finds herself caught between these two worlds.

Book Summary:

With a supernatural undercurrent, The Fourth Marker is the story of an elderly man, Gabriel Townsend, whose spirit is being crushed between the metaphoric anvil of his pragmatic views and the falling hammer of his wife's pending death. The story revolves around a family, the Townsends, whose heritage is partly Native American. The United States' Indian Removal Act of 1830, which resulted in the Trail of Tears episode in American history, required all indigenous people, with few exceptions, to leave their tribal lands in the southeast and east, along the eastern seaboard. Some Lenape (Delaware) tribal members on the Delmarva Peninsula as well as other areas in the east, defied the government and remained on their ancestral lands, hiding from authorities in the Great Pocomoke Forest, outlying islands, and swamps on the southern peninsula.A conscious decision to "hide in plain sight" or not, they eventually intermarried and bred with local whites, African-Americans, and mulattoes. Many families whose ties to Delmarva date back a hundred years or more share a heritage with those aboriginal people; however, the prejudice and racial bias of a bygone era caused many to ignore – even deny – their lineage. In the story, while a child on the family farm during the Great Depression, Gabe Townsend rejected legends of his Native American ancestors and ignored miraculous cures of family members. Gabe's half-breed grandfather, Noopah, tried to teach him tribal legends and the old ways, explaining that, after most Indians had been killed or driven from their lands by the Army and settlers, tribal elders returned to their lands in spirit form after their deaths. They dwelled at a sacred hill on the family's land and protected their descendants from early death and white man's diseases.During those years, three family members were cured of life-threatening diseases, but Gabe's mother blindly credited their recoveries to the nascent field of modern medicine. After each recovery, a person of evil character and not of tribal blood disappeared, followed by the mysterious appearance of a wood marker on the sacred tribal hill. Yet, despite those events and Noopah's words, Gabe adhered to his mother's intractable views. Now facing the loss of his wife, he relives his childhood memories, guided by the spirit of his grandfather from beyond – well beyond – the grave. Finally understanding the truth of long ago, he decides to beg the tribal spirits to take his life in exchange for his wife's, aware that a fourth marker would signify his own life – and death. As Gabe's father noted, "some understand only what they see; others see only what they understand." The Fourth Marker highlights this most human of vices against the backdrop of Native American legends with ample helpings of farm life during the Great Depression.

Book Summary:

ith the fall of the Abyssial Obsidian Gold City, war has waged in Primosaec for 16 Milenius between the First bloods of Arinviatal, the pure bloods of Primordia and the Rift born of evolution. With the War Games of the Anikhaziri drawing to a close in Median, once Medius, all of Trivium drift in instability with the rise of a new Champion. With the first success of the War Games election, due to Delectris's experiment, Trivium finds itself in unpredictable circumstances. With peace in Median as one cycle of 8 Milenius draws to a close, another begins as a new aspect of the War's origins arises in the Aftermath. As it comes to light the Anikhaziri are not what they appear to be, the layers of Trivium's depths become clear to the children of the Blackrose. With civil war in Primosaec ensuing over the last 16 Milenius, their champion must now uncover the mystery behind its circumstances and the puppet master pulling the strings of the Anikhaziri themselves. In the struggle for survival, the people of Primosaec have all but torn themselves and and each other apart over the greatest kept secret, the primordial flower. When the lines of historical truth, spoken truth and experienced truth begin to blur, all of Primosaec finds itself tangled in the web of chaos surrounding their new champion and her mysterious origins. Teetering on the brink of utter destruction and war again, Primios now united with Blackrose must find a way to restore the shattered remains of Primosaec to create a balance of power as they find themselves in the center of this web of Chaos. The Champion that could be their redemption is the same factor that could destroy everything and sometimes you have to break something apart to fix it. Can the people of Primosaec be restored in the absence of the only thing they had in common or will their differences destroy the entire civilization they have built? Below the Blackrose Territory of Median, lays the original foundation of the middle ground Primios as the Queen of Blackroses must now confront her greatest enemy yet, herself. Trapped between two worlds, she finds there is far more to this war then she bargained for as its roots lay buried beyond the territory of Median in the second world, Primosaec. In the search for answers to uncover the facts behind her origin, she must first unravel the tangled web of truths and in this one truth is fact above all, secrets will kill and too much truth is madness. With all of Trivium at stake she is torn between the calling of architects and the War Born Path before her as one thing is clear, she has forgotten something important from the war in Median. The truth can be poison when the secrets themselves can kill as the Queen finds herself on a journey through the second world of Trivium. From Primosaec territory in the east to Arinviatal Territory in the west, there is far more then what meets the eye as the layers of truth begin to surface. When she finds herself caught in a deadly 7 tier Enochian chess game between the Aedifix, the unseen threat and herself, there is only one way to end this war over Trivium.

Book Summary:

This volume presents essays by pioneering thinkers including Tyler Burge, Gregory Chaitin, Daniel Dennett, Barry Mazur, Nicholas Humphrey, John Searle and Ian Stewart. Together they illuminate the very foundations of science and the scientific enterprise. The authors examine, from various perspectives, the complex relations between reality per se and our human descriptions of the world, as deduced in the process of scientific discovery. Are we living in Plato’s Cave? If not, how far have we emerged from it? And what are the various layers of description we can apply to objects and phenomena? A simple apple, for example, can be analyzed from several viewpoints beginning with evolution and biology, all the way down its microscopic quantum mechanical components. Together, the cast of eminent scientists and philosophers shed light on how our various theories and constructs co-exist in a patchwork to produce a seemingly coherent reality. All aficionados of philosophy as well as budding researchers will find here much food for thought as well as new and stimulating perspectives. The book also includes a foreword by Sir Roger Penrose and an afterword by Dagfinn Follesdal

Book Summary:

For all too obvious reasons, war, empire, and military conflict have become extremely hot topics in the academy. Given the changing nature of war, one of the more promising areas of scholarly investigation has been the development of new theories of war and war’s impact on society. War, Citizenship, Territory features 19 chapters that look at the impact of war and militarism on citizenship, whether traditional territorially-bound national citizenship or "transnational" citizenship. Cowen and Gilbert argue that while there has been an explosion of work on citizenship and territory, Western academia’s avoidance of the immediate effects of war (among other things) has led them to ignore war, which they contend is both pervasive and well nigh permanent. This volume sets forth a new, geopolitically based theory of war’s transformative role on contemporary forms of citizenship and territoriality, and includes empirical chapters that offer global coverage.
