Book Summary:

The book is about all of my dreams that I had that never came true. This book will also give the inside track of what I learned about me in my life as I travel through the journey of life. People have always talked about the truth about their life, but what about the whole truth, the good, the bad and the ugly? I am just a normal and regular person who is not perfect in no form shape or fashion. This book is just an insight of my life with all of the encounters coming from a very large family. By coming from a large family today caused many problems for me because I did not realize exactly how poor I was until I began to attend college. Not saying that most of our family didn’t pull themselves out of their situations. Happiness came from the inside of your to come true. This book will show that I thought that it was the choices that I made, but in the end I found out that it wasn’t only the choice, but it was other individual choices, but it was the decision of my parents that turned my life upside down and on its head. From my experience, as a child growing up here in America in the 60’s and 70’s life was to have dreams in our small little heads about becoming a fireman, sports photographer, doctor, or even a player playing sports. As a child having dreams are the responsibility of the parents to every effort to make their child dreams come true and this will make them successful and most of all very happy with their accomplishments. See I love the game of football and other sports as well, such as baseball, basketball and track and field, but football was my favorite. The reason that I loved football was my most favorite. The reason it was my favorite because on the football field this was where the smaller player could get even with the bigger bullies who wanted to talk trash to some of the small players. While I played the game of football in the little Pop Warner Football League, I silence the bigger boys without talking trash. As this book unfolds you will find out that other people in my life and bad timing played a role in my unsuccessful dreams. Then you will find out that my life was not only my decision alone. But on the side of all of this I had a good life and I maintained to stay happiness. Now if I had not exposed my life to you, many people would never know the pain and hardship that I experienced in my life time. I am still the same Darmonica who you have know in the past who love sports and love lending a helping hand where it’s needed. For the love of life is to love yourself, help another and take the worst of life and make the best of it, and I did just that. Without my family and friends I would not be the person who I am NOW! That’s why I say, Hold on, someone is on the other line!

Book Summary:

NAMED ONE OF THE 100 MUST-READ BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY TIME MAGAZINE “A cheerful, mischievous rebuke to all that spiritual sincerity and floaty nonattachment and sugary loving kindness” (The Wall Street Journal), this first and only comprehensive examination of the universal, but widely misunderstood, practice of grudge-holding will show you how to use grudges to be your happiest, most optimistic, and most forgiving self. Secretly, we all hold grudges, but most of us probably think we shouldn’t, and many of us deny that we do. To bear a grudge is too negative, right? Shouldn’t we just forgive and move on? Wrong, says prolific crime novelist and self-appointed grudge guru Sophie Hannah, in her groundbreaking and irreverent self-help guide. Yes, it’s essential to think positively if we want to live happy lives, but even more crucial is how we get to the positive. Denying our negative emotions and experiences is likely to lead only to more pain, conflict, and stress. What if our grudges are good for us? What if we could embrace them, and use them to help ourselves and others, instead of feeling ashamed of our inability to banish negative emotions and memories from our lives? With contributions from expert psychotherapists as well as extracts from her own extensive catalog of grudges, Sophie Hannah investigates the psychological origins of grudges and also offers not-so-obvious insights into how we should acknowledge—and embrace—them in order to improve the quality of our interpersonal relationships and senses of self. Grudges do not have to fill us with hate or make us toxic, bitter, and miserable. If we approach the practice of grudge-holding in an enlightened way, it will do the opposite—we will become more forgiving. For fans of Sophie Hannah’s bestselling crime novels who have ever wondered what is going on in her unusual, brilliant mind, How to Hold a Grudge is “a perfect document” (The New York Times) that also reveals everything we need to know about the many different forms of grudge, the difference between a grudge and not-a-grudge (not as obvious as it seems), when we should let a grudge go, and how to honor a grudge and distill lessons from it. Hannah’s practical, compassionate, and downright funny guide can turn us into better, happier people.

Book Summary:

We were created to care for each other. Some such as social workers, counselors, pastors, chaplains, seminarians, doctors, nurses, teachers, missionaries, and many others have experienced a calling and have pursued education and training that equipped them to be professional helpers. Others have sensed a calling, and out of love, passion, and compassion help and care for others. Still others just help because we are called to bear one another's burdens and to lend a helping hand along life's journey. And others took on the task of being a caregiver because that was the thing to do. This book is written for helpers and caregivers-thus everyone. Sometimes helpers become burdened with the load of caring; sometimes they need something to lift their spirits; sometimes they need a source of new insights and new ideas. Yet, sometimes, they need the comfort that comes from spending time in God's Word, meditating on God's promises, and seeing how biblical characters found help from God. I hope this book will be one that you turn to time and again; one that you will share with others. As you go along each day, use the book as a source for daily meditation, reflection, and inspiration. Or, take a break; turn to a page; or let the book fall open to a page; and anticipate how God will send the right message and encouragement that you need for a moment of disappointment, discouragement, or when you need a word of discernment. Better yet, find a happy story to make you laugh, reminisce, and celebrate. Be blessed as you help and care for others as well as yourselves. Book Summary:

Earnest, awkward, and painfully shy, sixteen-year-old Assaf is having the worst summer of his life. With his big sister gone to America and his best friend suddenly the most popular kid in their class, Assaf worries away his days at a lowly summer job in Jerusalem city hall and spends his evenings alone, watching television and playing games on the Internet. One morning, Assaf's routine is interrupted by an absurd assignment: to find the owner of a stray yellow lab. Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, Tamar, a talented young singer with a lonely, tempestuous soul, undertakes an equally unpromising mission: to rescue a teenage drug addict from the Jerusalem underworld . . . and, eventually, to find her dog. Someone to Run With is the most popular work to date from "a writer who has been, for nearly two decades, one of the most original and talented . . . anywhere" (The New York Times Book Review), a bestseller hailed by the Israeli press (and reform politicians such as Shimon Peres) for its mixture of fairy-tale magic, emotional sensitivity, and gritty realism. The novel explores the life of Israeli street kids-whom Grossman interviewed extensively for the novel-and the anxieties of family life in a society racked by self-doubt. Most of all, it evokes the adventure of adolescence and the discovery of love, as Tamar and Assaf, pushed beyond the limits of childhood by their quests, find themselves, and each other.

Book Summary:

As Sylvia Longmore reflects on her years of suffering in an abusive, troubled relationship, she slowly comes to realize that her inappropriately chosen husband could not have carried out such sustained perversions if she had not enabled him. The story, set in Jamaica and Canada, has all real characters, except Reason. Sylvia, a Christian and mother of two is an educator and an artist and she also dabbles in real estate development. She marries the opportunistic, penniless, uneducated, younger, divorced and charismatic David Farisey with his great gift of glib. He dishonours the wedding vows and deceives her on every detail crucial to making the marriage successful. David moves into Sylvia's house, then attracts a swarm of unwanted people into her space. Sylvia gives David a make-over and he becomes a church deacon. He then lies profusely to hide dark secrets, for self-embellishment and to vilify Sylvia. He depletes her investments, mistreats her and damages her health. Frequent Canadian vacations, constantly revive her mentally and physically. This is a story of treachery and deceit, exploitation and extortion, abuse, betrayal and adultery. Yet, by the time it ends it will be one of survival and self-discovery, of healing and forgiveness.
