Book Summary:

This report focuses on the work of Yorkshire Forward, its use of resources (forecast to be around £360 million in 2009-10) and how the regional strategies it has developed benefit the region's population of over 5 million, especially in the current economic climate. Yorkshire Forward has led the development of three Regional Economic Strategies (RESs). Although developed by Yorkshire Forward it is felt that it is important that the RES is owned by the region and Yorkshire Forward is commended for its consultative and collaborative approach. It is important that full account is taken of the region's diversity and it will need to be ensured that this is reflected in the new Integrated Regional Strategy, but this should not mean that sub-regional concerns are put ahead of a balanced approach to the interests of the region as a whole and should not detract from Yorkshire Forward's original core economic focus. The Committee is also concerned about the impact of budget cuts and a reduction in funding on the work of Yorkshire Forward and they recommend that Yorkshire Forward's budget not be decreased further

Why this book? Barack Obamas life has been the subject of endless news reports, blogs, memoirs, and case histories. And yet at a deeper personal level, he has remained an enigma, a riddle, a person shrouded in mystery and mystique. There is a need for something definite and specific: a constructive setting forth of reality and truth. That reality and truth is embalmed in the antiseptic pages of this book.

Book Summary:

Let Go of What Holds You Back and Fulfill God's Purpose Far too many people are not living up to God's best for them, limited by habits and hang-ups from which they just can't seem to break free. Unforgiveness, addictive behavior, unhealthy financial patterns--limitations come in all shapes and sizes. Breaking free from any of them starts the same way: by walking in the truth. Jesus died on the cross to set us free and enable us to experience life to the full; anything less than that is not God's best. If we are followers of Christ, freedom is not just a benefit to embrace if we choose; it's a responsibility we are called to. Pastor and author John Siebeling helps readers connect the dots between what they read in God's Word and their everyday lives. Each chapter highlights a specific hang-up or habit that holds people back, explains what God says about it, and points to a way forward in freedom. Practical advice and suggestions for next steps help readers see how to implement changes that give them the traction they need to move forward.

Book Summary:

Are some people born to achieve anything they want while others struggle? Call them lucky, blessed, or possessors of the Midas touch. What is the real reason for their success? Is it family background, wealth, greater opportunities, high morals, an easy childhood? New York Times best-selling author John C. Maxwell has the answer: The difference between average people and achieving people is their perception of and response to failure. Most people are never prepared to deal with failure. Maxwell says that if you are like him, coming out of school, you feared it, misunderstood it, and ran away from it. But Maxwell has learned to make failure his friend, and he can teach you to do the same. "I want to help you learn how to confidently look the prospect of failure in the eye and move forward anyway," says Maxwell. "Because in life, the question is not if you will have problems, but how you are going to deal with them. Stop failing backward and start failing forward!"

Book Summary:

Well known bishop and church leader Paul S. Morton Sr. draws on the Old Testament story of the Israelite’s exodus from Egypt and time honored spiritual principles and truths to explore how God’s power and presence can bring about much-needed spiritual change. First, spiritual change does not come easily and is often preceded by conflict, as well as strife as believers strive to recognize their own internal struggle. Morton argues that “ground zero” for any spiritual change first happens within. Second, spiritual change must happen at wider level. It requires the members of the community as a whole to shift their thinking, restructure the desires of their hearts, and restore their souls to the point of being one with God. Third, once the community experiences spiritual change, the gate is open for the final step—spiritual growth. This essential step not only results in enriched, progressive intimacy with God, but it also has a lingering effect that fosters and begins the cycle anew in others who desire that same intimacy. In essence, spiritual change eventually becomes a spiritual trait that gets handed down to future generations.

Book Summary:

The internationally bestselling book that inspired the Pay It Forward movement is now available in a middle grade edition. Pay It Forward is a moving, uplifting novel about Trevor McKinney, a twelve-year-old boy in a small California town who accepts his teacher’s challenge to earn extra credit by coming up with a plan to change the world. Trevor’s idea is simple: do a good deed for three people, and instead of asking them to return the favor, ask them to “pay it forward” to three others who need help. He envisions a vast movement of kindness and goodwill spreading across the world, and in this “quiet, steady masterpiece with an incandescent ending” (Kirkus Reviews), Trevor’s actions change his community forever. This middle grade edition of Pay It Forward is extensively revised, making it an appropriate and invaluable complement to lesson plans and an ideal pick for book clubs, classroom use, and summer reading. Includes an author'snote and curriculum guide.

Book Summary:

This book is intended to give an introduction to the theory of forwa- backward stochastic di erential equations (FBSDEs, for short) which has received strong attention in recent years because of its interesting structure and its usefulness in various applied elds. The motivation for studying FBSDEs comes originally from stochastic optimal control theory, that is, the adjoint equation in the Pontryagin-type maximum principle. The earliest version of such an FBSDE was introduced by Bismut [1] in 1973, with a decoupled form, namely, a system of a usual (forward)stochastic di erential equation and a (linear) backwardstochastic dieren tial equation (BSDE, for short). In 1983, Bensoussan [1] proved the well-posedness of general linear BSDEs by using martingale representation theorem. The r st well-posedness result for nonlinear BSDEs was proved in 1990 by Pardoux{Peng [1], while studying the general Pontryagin-type maximum principle for stochastic optimal controls. A little later, Peng [4] discovered that the adapted solution of a BSDE could be used as a pr- abilistic interpretation of the solutions to some semilinear or quasilinear parabolic partial dieren tial equations (PDE, for short), in the spirit of the well-known Feynman-Kac formula. After this, extensive study of BSDEs was initiated, and potential for its application was found in applied and t- oretical areas such as stochastic control, mathematical n ance, dieren tial geometry, to mention a few. The study of (strongly) coupled FBSDEs started in early 90s. In his Ph.
